Jim Thompson House

Jim Thompson houseJim Thompson was an American who had a profound influence on the resurgence of the modern Thai Silk industry after World War II.

With the aim of producing consistent good quality silk and meeting customer tastes, the bright jewel coloured silks synonymous with Thailand, became a thriving industry.

He disappeared while on holiday with friends in the Cameron highlands (Malaysia) in 1967.  He went out for an afternoon walk and never returned.  The mystery of his disappearance has never been solved.

Jim Thompson’s house today is a collection of 6 traditional Thai houses Jim Thompson collected from around Thailand in the 1950s/60s.  They are of varying architectural styles and are situated in a quiet cool lush garden area.

On site there is a cafe that receives consistently good reviews for the quality of it’s food.
