This is the overview of some of the main sights you may wish to see while in Kuala Lumpur. It is only a small selection but these are easily done in a 1-2 day visit.

1. Islamic Arts Museum

Address: Jalan Lembah
PerdanaKuala Lumpur 50480

Cost: 14 MYR adult and 7 MYR children

Open: 10:00 – 18:00

Encompassing art, textiles, pottery, jewellery and
writing this is a fascinating insight into Islamic art.

2. National Mosque (Masijd Negara)

Address:Jalan Perdana Kuala Lumpur 50480

This is a mix of contemporary and traditional Islamic
art. The minaret is 73m tall and the design of the Mosque is based on the Grand Mosque at Mecca. It was completed in 1965. It is set in a large area of landscaped garden and is near the Old Kuala Lumpur Railway station.

3. Central Market

Address: Jalan Hang Kasturi, Kuala Lumpur 50050

Open: 10:00 – 22:00

Originally this was a wet market but today it is home to a wide range of goods, mainly of the handcraft variety.

It’s conversion to this was driven by the Malaysia Heritage Trust in the 1980s

If you are interested in Malaysian history there is a free tour offered each
morning starting from central market walking around some of the heritage
streets in the area.

4. Chinatown

Address: Petaling Street Kuala Lumpur 50480

Evenings are the time to wander through the markets
and try your hand at bargaining. Everything can be found here from tourist
souvenirs, copied goods and a wide range of street food.

Be prepared to haggle and be aware that some
stallholders can be a bit pushy trying to get your business.

5. Masijd Jamek Mosque

Address: Jalan Melayu /
Jalan Masijd India Kuala Lumpur

Open: 10:00 – 18:00

Opened in 1909 this is one of the oldest mosques in
Kuala Lumpur. The style of the building is Moorish. It is well frequented on
Friday day of worship, with crowds out to the streets

6. Old Train Station

Address: Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, Kuala Lumpur 50050

Re-Designed by Arthur Benison Hubback in 1910 this building shows definite Indian influences. No longer a bustling station, only a few commuter trains. 

Inside the station is located the Heritage hotel – a piece of history frozen in time, but still operational as a budget hotel

7. Menara KL Towers

Address: No. 2 Jalan Punchak Off Jalan P.Ramlee 50250 Kuala Lumpur

Open: 9:00 – 22:00 (09:30 on weekends and public holidays)

Built in 1994 this 421m high tower overlooks the Petronas towers because it is built on a hill. A revolving restaurant can be found at the top offering breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner buffets Restaurant Menu

8. Petronas Twin Towers

Open: From 9:00 am daily except Monday
There are a limited number of tickets are issued per day on a first-come-first-served basis.  Each visitor is entitled to only one ticket, and one ticket entitles to only one admission. 

Therefore many arrive early to be assured one of the 1200 tickets issued each day. 

It is informally recommended that you are in the line before 7:30 for the best chance to get a ticket.  See the website for more information http://www.petronastwintowers.com.my

Visit Days: Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Monday)
Visit Hours: From 9 am to 7 pm (closed for Friday Prayer from 1pm to 2:30pm)

Cost:  Adult 10 MYR to the skybridge only or 40 MYR to the Skybridge and the Observation deck

The Petronas Towers measure 452m high and have 88 floors and the connecting bridge between is at the 42nd floor. In the complex there is a concert hall and an art gallery. Also attached to this complex is the Suria KLCC Mall with international and national tenants .
