If Saalbach village is party central, then smaller sister Hinterglemm, is the quieter village of the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski area. Here the village is small, but with all the facilities that you will likely need for a ski vacation.
Located 5km further up the mountain from the Saalbach village there is one main street which has a pedestrian area in the middle. If your accommodation is at the far end of the village you will need to continue on the main road through the tunnel to access that end of the village

downtown Hinterglemm
There are numerous restaurants and bars serving Austrian and International food. Probably the most popular place in town is the Apres Ski at the base of the lifts, Der Goaßstall, it is always busy and you may have to hunt for a place.
Supermarket
There is one supermarket in town, and it is busy from all day. If possible try not to go about 3pm as at this time is can be overcrowded with skiiers coming off the mountain wanting something to eat, drink or prepare for dinner. The store is not large, but it does have a very good selection of the things you are likely to want to eat and drink. And the prices are not too bad. For other supermarkets you will need to drive to Saalbach

the Spar supermarket in Hinterglemm
Pharmacy
Immediately next door is a very good pharmacy, with staff who can speak good english.
Bakery
There are two bakeries in town, one just inside the pedestrian zone, and the other between the main road and the pedestrian zone. Both are adequate, but are not outstanding. I also found them both a little expensive for the goods they were offering.
Accommodation
Accomodation is the usual range from Hostels, Hotels and the ski apartments – something to suit everyone.
Before hiring your skis check out if your accommodation has the discount vouchers. This should save you 10% or more of total cost. We used the Gumpold shop. The shop can be busy on a saturday afternoon, but they have efficient computer systems, and well trained staff. So you should be processed in the minimum time possible, and usually with a smile.
ATM
There are two ATM located at the Raiffeisen bank. We never had any problems using international chip credit cards to withdraw money.
Doctor
And hopefully no one needs it but there is a doctor’s clinic in the middle of town.
