With Singapore Gardens by the Bay as the lynchpin, it is possible to create an interesting and achievable itinerary. Gardens, Shopping, Eating, Education and views – it is all included. And given Singapore’s constant heat and humidity distances are not too far and easily walk-able.
From the Bayfront MRT station (or Tanjong Pagar MRT if coming by the East-West line) follow the signs to the Garden.
For a spot of shopping and AirCon this mall is literally just across the road and all paths from the Garden seem to lead here, including a direct link overhead bridge Lion’s Bridge, open 8:00am to 11pm.
In the Mall is also an extensive food hall. While the prices are a step up from budget the selection is large and there are plenty of local office workers.
Although I didn’t personally visit the museum (lack of research on my part!) it has excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. And the building is a work of art in it’s own right.
From the website they describe themselves as:
The world’s first ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands is known as the museum that celebrates creativity, the processes at the heart of art and science, and their role in shaping society.
The Museum seeks to understand what drives creative people, how they acquire and use their skills, and how the world around us is changed because of it. ArtScience Museum presents exhibitions and programmes to deliver these stories using a combination of beautiful design, intriguing content and intellectual discussion, in order to inspire the creativity in us all.
Tickets cost S$25 and can be purchased with packages or the Singapore Flyer
To get to the final destination – the Singapore Flyer – you need to cross over the Helix Bridge pedestrian bridge. It was officially completed in 2010 and links the Marina centre with the South Marina. It is great spot for photographs of the Marina bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer.
Spiralling steel mimics the structure of DNA, it is also lit up at night
The flyer is your view over the city and helps to put the territory into perspective.
If you plan to go on the Flyer and haven’t utilised a coupon deal to purchase tickets, at book online. Booking online will be less than buying at the ticket booth.
Flights take 30 minutes. With your ticket in hand you need to proceed to the pre-flight line-up area from where you will wait for you boarding. Pods are air-conditioned and give a good 360 degree vista.
From here it is an easy walk to the Promenade MRT station, or you can retrace your steps back to Marina Sands.
